CHIROPRACTIC
Chiropractic is a leading allied health care discipline based on the scientific premise that the body is a self-healing, self-regulating organism. These important functions of everyday living are controlled by the brain, the spinal cord and your nervous system. The practice of Chiropractic focuses on the relationship between your musculo-skeletal and nervous systems, and how they affect the preservation and restoration of health.
Your nervous system controls and coordinates every cell, tissue and organ in your body. Your spine protects your nervous system and allows movement and flexibility. When your spine loses normal motion or position, it can affect the way your nerves work, interfering with the activities of daily life and in turn, leads to poor health.
At Ballarat Integrated Health, we use a wide variety of Chiropractic techniques including:
- Manual adjusting
- Non-rotary velocity techniques (drop piece)
- Low force techniques such as bio-mechanical blocks and activator
- Soft tissue therapy and adjunctive therapies including kinesio-taping and dry needling.
This can be combined with advice on nutritional supplements, stretching or exercises.
*We adjust people of all ages – from new born babies and pregnant women to the elderly. Treatment is adjusted accordingly, for the age and condition of each person we see.
We are fully registered with Medicare and all Private Health Funds. We are also covered to treat:
- Work Safe
- Transport Accident Commission (TAC)
- Enhanced Primary Care (EPC)
- Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA)
Co-referral with local health professionals is also a priority with all practitioners. This wider co-management of patients includes General Practitioners and Medical Specialists, Maternal and Child Health Nurses, Physiotherapists and Podiatrists.
APPOINTMENTS
Initial Consultations will involve taking a detailed history, relevant Orthopaedic and Neurological testing. A thorough treatment is included. Sometimes you may need to be referred out for x-rays. We allow 30 minutes for this appointment. Patients will be treated/adjusted at this consultation unless there is a concern that there is an underlying issue that would need scans to be done first. This happens rarely.
*Allow an extra 10 minutes before the treatment to fill in paperwork.
Return Consultations will involve a review of your current history, a check of relevant assessments and also comprehensive treatment. We allow 15 minutes for this appointment.
REMEDIAL MASSAGE & MYOTHERAPY
Massage therapy involves the manipulation of soft tissues in the body including, muscles, connective tissues, tendons, ligaments and joints. Myotherapy treatments utilize additional adjunctive therapies, and may include dry needling, cupping and stretching advice. It is a clinically-oriented healthcare technique that relieves the discomfort associated with everyday stresses. This can often include our chosen occupations, sport or leisure activities.
Steve also offers pregnancy & oncology massage treatments
*We have a pregnancy pillow to allow for a more comfortable massage for pregnant women. Please notify reception if you are pregnant.
Please note that health fund benefits may differ between Remedial Massage and Myotherapy cover. Always check with your health fund if you have specific queries.
